Meal plans

A meal plan specifies which meals a stay's price includes. For example, bed and breakfast includes accommodation and breakfast. Each rate plan is linked to one meal plan so the guest can identify what the price covers.

Common meal plans

Plan What is included
Room only Accommodation without meals.
Bed and breakfast Accommodation and breakfast.
Half-board Breakfast and one main meal, usually dinner.
Full-board Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
All-inclusive The meals, drinks and services specified by the property.
Ultra all-inclusive Extra services the property adds to its all-inclusive offering.

Drinks, meal times and extra services can differ by property. Check the property's description of included services as well as the plan name.

Pricing, search and mapping

  • Pricing: Bed and breakfast and half-board may have different prices for the same room and date.
  • Search: The meal-plan filter is used to find options that include the requested meals.
  • Mapping: Suppliers may use different codes for the same meal plan. For example, BB and BREAKFAST_INCL both mean bed and breakfast. Mapping links these codes to the same meal plan in the catalog. See Meal-plan mapping.

Selecting plans for properties and rooms

Record the meal plans the property offers. Select the included meal plan for each rate plan. A meal plan that a rate plan of the property sells cannot be removed from the property; change those rate plans first.

Rooms at the same property may be sold with different conditions. For example, an apartment with a kitchen may offer accommodation only, while a standard hotel room may offer bed and breakfast or half-board. Check the room and rate-plan details together.

Meal-plan changes and extra services

Contract or promotion conditions may offer different meal options:

  • Free change: Half-board replaces bed and breakfast for qualifying stays.
  • Paid extra: Half-board is added for EUR 25 per person per night.
  • Stay-length condition: All-inclusive is offered for stays of five nights or more.

Specify the valid dates, charges and included services in the relevant contract or promotion. See Promotions and discounts.

Display in different languages

A meal plan can have names in different languages. Bed and breakfast in English and Oda kahvaltı in Turkish describe the same plan. The meaning of the included services must remain the same across languages.

Display on sales channels

A property does not need to offer every meal plan on every sales channel. For example, a rate plan reserved for direct sales may be closed to other channels. When checking a meal option, also review the channel visibility of its rate plan.
